Hugh Abernethy was the son of William Abernethy who arrived NSW per Norfolk 1829. Hugh was 24 years old on arrival, single, literate, Protestant, 5'4" tall, fair freckled complexion, brown hair and eyes, lost two front teeth, one upper and one lowser, HAJP, pies glass bottle #### and heart and darts on right arm, mermaid WA and other letter on the left, small scars on forehead. Assigned to Robert Gooch, Parramatta. Native Place: Belfast. Was taken to the hulk Ganymede moored at Chatham. 1/12/1833: TOL Castle Hill. a plasterer 7/9/1835: COF 13/8/1834: Parramatta - Permission to marry Mary Roberts (Earl of Liverpool) she was 30 and on Bond, married with 2 children - Hugh was 29 and had TOL. 16/5/1835: Parramatta - Permission to marry Mary Heales alias Mary Daly (Hooghley) - she was 25 and on Bond - Hugh was 29 and had a TOL. No registration found. 14/12/1836: Parramatta - Permission to marry Catherine Mulligan (Elizabeth) - She was 31 and on Bond - Hugh was 30 and free. No registration found. 1837: Married Catherine Mulligan at St. Patrick's, Parramatta. No children listed. No deaths found in NSW.
