Stealing a Pig, Robert Andrew, for stealing pig, the property of Patrick Murphy, at Newtownhamilton, Patrick Murphy examined—Lives in Drumilly; lost a pig on 21st of January; kept it in Jack Markey’s yard, in Newtownhamilton ; got it, the day after he lost it; in the Bridewell; the prisoner the bar was also there in custody witness had very particular mark on the pig. James Cochran examined—Lives in Newtownhamilton; butcher ; the prisoner came to witness on 22d January, and asked him to kill a pig ; he told witness it was stolen ; offered him the half, if he would kill it; witness would have nothing with it. John Markey proved that the pig had been taken from his yard. . , to John Joyce, Sergeant of Police, examined—Went to prisoner's house on 22d January, in search of pig; witness said the prisoner that he understood knew something of it, prisoner replied that he did ; witness asked him where it was ? and he said it was shut up in a back-house down the street, and that he would turn it out to him; witness went with him, and the prisoner drove out the pig ; prisoner told witness that he had got the pig the road, and put it up, thinking there would be a reward offered for it.   DEFENCE. William Andrew examined —Is father to the prisoner; the pig was straying before his son's door, half hour before he was out of bed; witness lives in house adjoining his son's. Sarah Ann Andrew examined: Slept in the same bed with her brother the night the pig was stolen ; she had child of her own in the bed which was  uneasy during the night, and she could swear the prisoner did not leave the house from .sunset until the morning was good bit advanced witness knew nothing of the pig. Guilty. In sentencing the prisoner, his Lordship observed that the Jury had most justly found him guilty. No matter (added his Lordship to the prisoner) by what  means you got that pig into your possession, your determination was to deprive the owner of it. He was sentenced to be transported for 7 years.
