Last week was committed to the New Gaol, William Ashton charged with feloniously stealing one Bank of England Note of value of 1£. ten other Bank of England Notes of the value of 10£. each ; one Country Bank Note of the value of 5£; the property of Sowerby, in the Parish of All Saints, Pavement, in York. Leeds Mercury, 11 Jan 1812. William Ashton was found guilty of stealing Bank Notes for upwards of 50£. from Mr. Sowerby, of the Pavement, and received sentence of death. Nottingham Journal, 21 March 1812.
