On 18th October 1831 he stole cloth and was sentenced to 18 months. On 10 August 1833 he was tried for stealing a time piece and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He left Tasmania from Launceston on ship 'Essington' 14 November 1842 for the mainland of Australia, settling in Victoria.
