From the evidence it appeared that in the month of August, 1832, Mr. Bromley and his servant went to cut down some peas in a field, when they missed a cade-ram ; and in looking round they saw blood on the ground, and found the skin and entrails hid under some fern ; marks were seen in the hedge, and the footsteps  of three persons were tracked through two fields to a ditch, where the carcase was found, still warm, wrapped up in a smock-frock, which was identified as the by the woman who made it for him. The footmarks were from the ditch to the Leys Coppice, near the house of the prisoner, who absconded  immediately afterwards; but the prisoner having returned in about month, was apprehended and committed. The Jury returned verdict of guilty, and ... Shrewsbury Chronicle, 25 March 1836. He attempted to marry Jane and listed her age as 20 however on Jane’s death certificate it is written in the marriage section she was around 13 when she married Edward . There isn’t a formal marriage record however besides the convict application to marry that was rejected.
