Built 1836 in Calcutta. Wood barque of 421 Tons. Master Edward Smith. Sailed from England 1848 with 190 men from Pentonville prison under the care of surgeon Dr Robert Stevenson, . Twenty seven prisoners deemed to fall into "second class" were disembarked in Hobart and granted tickets of leave on landing and the remainder were disembarked at Geelong with conditional pardons. Sailed from Woolwich on 6 October 1851 under surgeon W. McCrae with 196 female convicts, landing on 26 January 1852.

Margaret Bence was 22 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for ‘stealing a silk pocket handkerchief’. She had had previous convictions. Margaret was 4’10 ¾” tall, pale complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, could read and write. 22/1/1856: TOL 8/7/1856: TOL revoked for absconding. 12/12/1856: Married William Lockwood (Waterloo 1834) he had been previously married to Lucy Mason and had 2 children. Had 6 children with Margaret, John 1857, Margaret Maria 1862, Frederick 1868, Edward 1871, Charles 1874, Mary Jane 1875. 16/10/1904: Margaret died at her son’s residence, New Town road, Hobart. William died 25/7/1876.
