Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Sydney Binks, age on arrival, 19, per Eliza II (2), 1829; Tried Limerick Court Martial, 1828, 7 years, for Desertion. DOB 1810, Native place, Leicestershire, England, Single, Protestant. Trade, soldier ploughman shearer. -------------------------------------------------- Colonial Secretary's Office, Sydney, May 5th, 1835. The Tickets of Leave granted to the following Prisoners have been cancelled for the reasons set against their respective names viz :— Eliza (5)—Sydney Binks, absconding from his hired service. NSW Govt Gazette, 6 May 1835. -------------------------------------------------- NSW Convict Index. Sydney Binks, Eliza 1829, Ticket of Leave, No 34/543. District, Bathurst; Tried Limerick C.M. Sydney Binks, Eliza 1829, Certificate of Freedom, 7 Mar 1836. No 36/0124. -------------------------------------------------- 1841 Census. Sydney Binks, Residence: Black Wattle Swamp, Parish Petersham, County Cumberland, District, Sydney. -------------------------------------------------- SUPREME COURT — CRIMINAL SIDE. Tuesday 2 Feb. Robert Kearnes, quarryman, was found guilty of burglariously entering the house of one Sydney Binks, carter, residing in Kent-street, Sydney, on the night of the 26th December, and was sentenced to be transported for ten years.
