Petition for ticket of leave To Governor Lachlan Macquarie, The humble petition of Joseph Louis (Portuguese) sheweth That your Petitioner was convicted and received sentence of Transportation for 14 years in the year 1808 and arrived in this Colony by the Ship Gambier (2nd). That Petitioner has since his arrival in this Colony 1810, been with several Masters whom he has always quitted with credit- he now is – and has been for the last 3 years in the service of Hannibal McArthur Esquire, of Parramatta. And Petitioner humbly prays that your Excellency will be pleased to take into consideration the length of time he has served- upwards of 10 years- and the character that he has always endeavoured to maintain and that Your Excellency will be pleased to grant him a Ticket of Leave. And Petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray, The Petitioner having conducted himself in my service, as an honest, industrious man and having a good character from his former Master, I beg leave to recommend him to Your excellency’s favor. Hampshire Lent Assizes. Antonio Josea Rodrigo, aged 22, and Jose Louis Borbose, aged 23, for having burglariously broken open and entered the dwelling-house and shop of John Charly Webb, at Portsmouth and feloniously stolen twenty-five yards of Irish lawn, two fur tippets, eight calico handkerchiefs, four pair of stockings, eleven yards of Irish linen, and divers other goods.
