Stephen BOREHAM was convicted at St. Edmunds, Bury on 30 March 1844 for arson - setting fire to corn stacks and farm buildings (John Copsey also convicted for same offence.) Life sentence. Both transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Agincourt' arriving Norfolk Island (off the east coast of New South Wales but administered at that time by VDL) 9 Nov 1844. Aged 21 yrs; 5'5"; farm labourer; Church of England; can read; single man. Native Place of birth: Glandford, nr Bury. Dec 1846: Norfolk Is. - having leather & scissors in his possession. Sentence extended 1 mth. June 1848: transferred to VDL. 17 Oct 1854: Ticket of Leave granted. 25 Nov 1856: Conditional Pardon approved. Note on Record: "Letter for this man" ? from family.
