Jane Bowie was tried at convicted at the CCC, London 04/06.1844 of stealing a shawl from her mistress, Lady Elizabeth .... Gaol Report: Poor. Surgeon's Report: Very good. Transported on the 'Rajah' arriving Van Diemens Land. Single, aged 48yrs; 5'0 3/4"; pale complexion, freckled; brown hair; brown eyes; could read & write a little. Native Place: Marylebone, London. July 1841: Cascades Female Factory, Hobart. 31/12/1841; J. Lowe, Hobart. 12/04/1844: 3rd class convict. 21/11/1844: M. Dowdle, Warwick St. Hobart. 04/11/1845: Ticket of Leave 27/12/1847: Larceny - discharged 04/01/1851: Free by Servitude 03/09/1860: Died - at Cascade Female Factory - a pauper. (Cause of death, cancer.) Buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery, South Hobart.
