Old Bailey: THOMAS BOXALL. Theft: simple larceny. 4th March 1839 Sentence Transportation Related Material THOMAS BOXALL, alias Bowes, was indicted for stealing, on the 25th of February, 7 handkerchiefs, value 1l.; 2 stockings, value 6s.; 4 petticoats, value 4s.; 3 shirts, value 6s.; and 1 napkin, value 6d.; the goods of Edward Turnour, Earl of Winterton: 1 pair of shoes, value 2s.; 1 round frock, value 1s.; and 1 jacket, value 2s.; the goods of Anthony Stilwell: 1 hat, value 1s., and 1 apron, value 6d., the goods of William Sopp; to which he pleaded GUILTY .— Transported for Seven Years. Thomas Boxall alias John Bowes was 15 years old on arrival - Native Place: Sussex. Thomas was literate, protestant, single, 5'11½" tall, dark sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, a small scar back of forefinger of left hand, scar on cap of each knee, slight made. From his Certificate of Freedom: Native Place: Queens County, a shoemaker, born 1825, 5'7" tall. Held a Ticket of Leave No 46-644 dated 10th April, 1846.
