Convict Notes
"Accidentally Killed at Rocky Hills" this was within months of arriving in Australia and working on his first chain gang.
CAUSE OF DEATH: On 6 November, at Rocky Hills, Patrick Brady died within an hour from "serious" injuries received when a tree he was felling fell on him. An inquest found his death was the result of an accident (https://stors.tas.gov.au/SC195-1-19-1563). --0--
TRIED on 12 July 1845, at County Cavan, Patrick Brady was 18 when he "raped Jane Lowan in a house", according to his own account on his Convict Record. He was single, able to read, a labourer, native place Co Cavan and listed as convict #17474. He was 19 on arrival in VDL (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-75$init=CON33-1-75p4). --0-- Note: There were two men called Patrick Brady on the Samuel Boddington. This one is often listed as Patrick Brady 2. The other Patrick Brady, from Co Leitrim, was #17473 and transported for cow stealing (15 years). He was also a labourer.
