We have further to announce the arrival on Sunday morning, the 29th instant, of the ship Almorah, with 180 male prisoners, all in excellent health, consequent upon their good treatment upon the passage; she lost not a man. — This vessel sailed from the Downs the 28th of April, arrived at Rio de Janeiro the 15th of June, and sailed on the 23rd; Sydney Gazette, 30 Aug 1817. Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. William Brady was a Shoemaker from County Cavan, Ire. Colonial Secretary Papers: BRADY, William. Per "Almorah", 1820 1823 Oct 10: On return of convicts discharged from the Establishment, Emu Plains; to Mr W Cox's clearing party (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.160) 1825 Jan 23: On return of prisoners who have absented themselves from Wellington Valley (Reel 6069; 4/1818 p.337) 1825 Mar 1: Re apprehension of (Reel 6065; 4/1801 pp.13-15, 18) 15/3/1834: TOL Upper Hunter 14/6/1839: TOL Passport, Invermien Bench 13/6/1840: TOL Passport, Scone Bench 1/1/1841: CP No marriage found and no deaths listed that seemed likely to be this William.




William BRADY was convicted at Kildare, Ireland in 1820. Life sentence. Transported to New South Wales, Australia per the 'Almorah' arriving 1820. Aged 32yrs; a shoemaker. Native place of birth: Co. Cavan, Ireland. 15 March 1834: Ticket of Leave granted. 16 April 1838: 2 mths imprisonment. Newcastle, NSW gaol.
