From about 1845, he was a jeweller in Melbourne, selling up in March 1852 to James Tucker. He was involved in the Thomas Chapman Pyrenees-gold adventure in 1849. For his widow's account, see Illustrated Sydney News, Saturday 8 July 1882, 23, http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/64034003 but note that her date of May 1849 is too late: the first meeting happened in January.
