Huntingdon Gaol General Register 1845-56(Archive Ref: 5670).

Michael came from Boston in Lincolnshire. He was 5ft6” tall with a sallow complexion. His hair was mixed grey and he had grey eyes. He was committed to Huntingdon Gaol on 02/03/1845. After being convicted on 19/03/1845 he was subsequently transferred to Millbank Prison on 29/03/1845. His behaviour was said to be orderly.

Michael Brett was 40 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for “receiving 141 pounds stolen by my daughter (she got 6 mths imprisonment)”.  His native place was County Sligo, Ireland.

Michael was married to Margaret who was at Boston and they had 5 children.

Michael was 5’5” tall, illiterate, RC, sallow complexion, brown to grey hair, red whiskers, hazel eyes, face wrinkled, tattoos.

27/2/1846: Michael died at Long Point, Maria Island.
