Stamford Mercury Lincolnshire, England 26 Sep 1823 Samuel Broadhead and George Dixon, of Stockwith, for trial at the next assizes, on a charge of robbing John Johnson, on the King's highway. (George Dixon arrived VDL per 'Lady East 1825). - Samuel's occupations: Clothier/Soldier/Labourer. Assigned to Mr Cobb on arrival - Maitland. 1831: TOL 19/7/1831: Maitland General Sessions - Robbery - 2 years. 9/8/1831: TOL cancelled for Robbery. 19/1/1832: arrived at Moreton Bay - returned to Sydney 16/8/1833. At Moreton Bay, Samuel was described as: 42 years old 5'4 1/2" tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes - soldier. 1838: TOL Feb. 1846: CP 1851: At Tamworth 2/2/1853: Worked as a carter, also had a Public House at Dunmore in 1854. 1846: Married Maria Davis (George Hibbert 1834) they had at least 1 child together, Ellen Broadhead in 1847. Maria had other children as seen below: 2/6/1858 Maitland Mercury: DEATHS. On the 27th ult., at West Maitland, Caroline Jane Davis, daughter of Samuel and Maria Broadhead, after a long and painful illness, aged 14 years ; deeply regretted. 12/5/1859 Maitland Mercury: DEATH. At Melbourne, on the 24th of April, Matilda Maria, the beloved wife of Thomas Cooper, aged twenty years — the fourth daughter of the present Maria Broadhead, of West Maitland — much regretted by all who knew her. 22/9/1863 Maitland Mercury: MARRIAGE. On the 12th of September, by the Rev. R. T. Hills, at his residence, Victoria-street, West Maitland, George Raymond Pidding, eldest son of the late G. R. Pidding, to Sarah Ann Davies, second daughter of the present Mrs. Maria Broadhead, both of West Maitland. 29/8/1865 Maitland Mercury: DEATH. At West Maitland, on Sunday, the 20th August, after a long and painful illness, aged forty-two years, Mary, the beloved wife of Mr. James Evan Davies, and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Maria Broadhead. May she rest in peace. 28/9/1867 Maitland Mercury: DEATHS. At Bogomilda station, New England, in the 20th year of her age, Ellen Rebecca, the beloved wife of Chas. Randall, jun., late of West Maitland ; the only daughther of Samuel and Maria Broadhead. Launceston papers please copy. 9/5/1863 The Maitland Mercury: THE FRIENDS of Mr. SAMUEL BROADHEAD are respectfully invited to ATTEND HIS FUNERAL ; the procession to move from his late residence, Louth Park Bold, This DAY, at three o'clock. 28/2/1874 Maitland Mercury: DEATHS. At her residence, Louth Park, West Maitland, on February 23rd, Maria Broadhead, relict of the the late Samuel Broadhead, and mother of Mrs. G. R. Pidding, age 71 years. Samuel and Maria are buried at the Campbells Hill Cemetery, Maitland.
