Henry BROTHERS was convicted at Kent on 6 Aug 1838 for stealing money from a letter in the Post. Gaol Report: "character good, respectable". 10 yr transportation sentence. Hulk Report: "very good". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Egyptian' arriving 16 Aug 1839. Ship surgeon's report: "intelligent man with a good disposition, hospital man (asst)". Single man; aged 22yrs; 5'4 1/2"; clerk - worked for the Post Office at Chatham; Protestant. Native Place: Sheerness, Kent, England. Clear Conduct Record in the Colony. 30 Dec 1839: Died, in H.M. Colonial Hospital, Hobart. Aged 23yrs. Convict per 'Egyptian'. cause not stated on registration. Parish of Trinity, Hobart. (ref. convict conduct record & reg. 34/1/2 no. 126)
