Edward Brown, an itinerant teacher of short-hand, was put to the bar, charged with stealing bank notes, sovereigns, silver pensioner’s bills to the amount , the property of Richard Rogers ?p-keeper. Richard Rogers swore he travelled on public car to Roscrea with the (money) and that his trunk was cut through at the end, and the money taken out …. Clonmel Herald, 19 March 1834. Edmond Browne indicted for, on the 16th of November last, for stealing money from Mr. Richard Rogers. Guilty to be transported for 7 years. Kilkenny Moderator, 22 March 1834.
