Prince Regent, 1820-21. On Tuesday arrived from Ireland, the ship Prince Regent, Captain Clifford. She left the Cove of Cork the 19th of September last, and brings, in excellent health, 144 male prisoners. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Taylor, R. N. The guard comprises 30 men of the 1st Foot (Royals), under orders of Lieut. Lewis. Sydney Gazette, 13 Jan 1821.

Lancaster Assizes. John Smith, and John Buckley, for a burglary in the house of John Thompson, at Manchester, and stealing shoes. Ann Paine, for receiving the stolen goods. Smith amd Buckley ; death; Paine, no bill. Liverpool Mercury, 9 Apr 1819.




3/4/1819 Lancaster Gazette Lancashire, England: LANCASTER ASSTZES John Smith, 30, and John Buckley, 48, for a burglary in tbe house of John Thompson, at Manchester, and stealing shoes, &c.— Guilty. **John Smith was also on board - **2 John Smiths on the voyage, the other one was tried at the Old Bailey. Colonial Secretary Papers: BUCKLEY, John. Per "Prince Regent", 1820 1820 Feb 8: On list of convicts disembarked from the "Prince Regent" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution; listed as Bulkey (Reel 6007; 4/3501 p.243) 1820 Dec 4: Re permission to marry at Parramatta (Reel 6007; 4/3502 pp.464-5) (**This was to Margaret Moore per 'Janus 1820'). 1824 Jul 8: On list of prisoners assigned (Fiche 3290; 4/4570D p.14) ** John was assigned to Andrew Dickson at the Hunter River 8/7/1824. 1821: Married Margaret Moore - they had 1 child listed, also Margaret, 'Buckley' in 1822. **Cannot find Margaret Moore on the 'Janus' although she is listed in the Colonial Secretary Papers - there was a Mary Moore but she was sent to Port Dalrymple, and died in Hobart 26/8/1830, aged 25.
