ADM 101/58/6/1 Surgeon's Journal, Pekoe convict ship, 1840. Folios 11-14: case no 7, John Buckley, aged 31, prisoner; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, continued fever, complained of slight pain through the whole head and more about the loins and muscles of the thighs, general debility, thirst and loss of appetite, pulse frequent, tongue whitish, skin rather hot. Said that he felt unwell for several days and had sometimes slight shivering and could eat nothing 'to speak of' and felt his head 'bothered', he did not complaint before as he hoped his complaints would wear off; put on sick list 17 August 1840, died 1 September 1840 at 11 am.
