On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. William Bumpstead was convicted of robery and sentenced to life transportation to Hobart VDL in 1829 per Mary - aged about 18 years. Williams record remained clean until much later, where he was variously charged with drunkeness etc. William's mother Elizabeth Bumpstead was convicted in 1830 for stealing four pewter drinking pots from two pubs in London - She was transported for 7 years to Hobart VDL per Mellish. Accompanying Elizabeth in her transportation were her five other children Mary-Ann, Caroline, Elizabeth,George and Sarah, four of whom were placed in the Queens Orphanage until they reached assignment age.
