John Byers (Byhurst) was firstly convicted for larceny in July 1829 and imprisoned for 8 months. He reoffended in NSW and was sent to Cockatoo Island on an Iron Gang for 1 year. His ticket of leave was cancelled for immoral behaviour. He was pardoned 7 June 1853 on the condition he never return to England.
