Remarks: with his wife Margaret, formerly Proctor, per Broxbornebury, free by servitude; cancelled 3 Mar 1830 by the Sydney Bench for being found out of his district(Windsor) and for keeping a disorderly house in Sydney. Patrick CADDAM (alias McAdam) (c1764-?) a native of Westmeath, Ireland, a tailor, had been tried in Dublin City in 1817. He reached Sydney in 1818 as a convict with a 14 year term on the ship Tyne. [The ship Tyne left the cove of Cork 16 Jul 1818 carrying 180 Irish convicts and arrived at Port Jackson, Sydney 13 Jan 1819 with 179 convicts. (V1823-5667-2B) 1823-1825 Muster: Margaret PROCTOR, FS, Broxbornebury, 7 years, wife of Patrick McAdam, Parra (37018) & spouse - Patrick McADAM, con, Tyne 1819, 14 years, govt. servant to Mary (sic) Proctor (30348) [Note: Patrick and Margaret Carey nee Proctor were living in a defacto relationship] 1823, 17 March 1823 - Patrick CADDAM/McADAM, while a Constable, arrested Sarah Faulkner for selling spirits without a license. In Court, Sarah said she had a little farm & Patrick (& another Constable) came & asked her for some wine, as he felt unwell. Sarah told them she had none in the house, but Patrick swore she sold them some. Sarah wrote to Gov Macquarie stating that this was not true & wanted mitigation for her fine. Per "Broxbornebury", 1814, as Margaret Proctor. Margaret McAdam asked that her convict husband be assigned to her. They had wed the previous May in Parramatta (?) by Rev Therry. Letter sent from the Col Sec to Donald McLeod Esq JP at Parramatta, requesting the maiden name & ship of arrival for Margaret McAdam. He had been tried Dublin City July 1817, had no convictions since his arrival, served faithfully John Carey (since deceased) of Parramatta, then Carey's widow since Feb 1823 to now. Also – 2nd entry for Patrick at Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney [reason - Census taken on different days] 1831 – Patrick Caddam per ship Tyne, received his Certificate of Freedom.
