When he arrived in Australia, he was 50 years old. He left behind in Ireland, a wife, Margaret (Brogan), whom he married in about 1804, and 4 children, James, Michael, Mary, and Thomas. Thomas appears to have worked as a farm labourer in the Maitland area, (Merton). He was granted a ticket of leave in 1836. In 1841 he is recorded as living at Yango Creek in the Wollombi district. He received his CF on Feb. 1st, 1845. His wife, Mary Brogan, and daughter, Mary, joined him, arriving on the Roslyn Castle, while Michael and Thomas came on the Surry, arriving in 1836.. They settled around Singleton. Mary Cagney (Brogan) died in 1841 and is buried at Patricks Plains, near Singleton. Thomas Cagney died in 1850 and is buried in Singleton?
