In March 1827 together with Daniel Herbert and John Lynch, he was charged before the North Eastern circuit assizes on four counts of highway robbery and with putting 'in bodily fear and danger'. Camble and his co-accused pleaded guilty, and were sentenced to death on 7th April 1827. The sentence was commuted to transportation for life and Camble was placed on board the Asia and transported to VDL, arriving in Hobart Town in December 1827.
