William Careless was my great grandfather and married Catherine Casey. They had 12 Children. Many descendants live in the Huon area of Tas. I am over 60 a teacher and live on the mid north coast of Nsw.

William Careless was 17 years old on arrival in VDL.  He was born in Wolverhampton and was transported for “breaking locks and stealing a sapde”.

Previous convictions: one for trespass, 1 month and 2 months for garden robbing.

William was 5’3” tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, could read and write, single, protestant.

Father: Thomas at native place
Brother: Walter at NP
Sisters: Mary, Ellen, Catherine, Harriet.

Assigned to John Gray on Bruny Island.

1860: Married Catherine Casey - they had 12 children.

12/8/1892: William died of General Debility, aged 70 - the informant was his son, B. Careless, Esperance.

William Careless was 17 years old on arrival in VDL.  He was born in Wolverhampton and was transported for “breaking locks and stealing a sapde”.

Previous convictions: one for trespass, 1 month and 2 months for garden robbing.

William was 5’3” tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, could read and write, single, protestant.
