Colonial Secretary: Listed as Samuel Cave 6/7/1825: Re permission to marry at Sydney. 16/11/1825: Request by wife Susan, that he be assigned to her. 15/10/1825: Married Susannah Dockrell/Dockerell at St. Jame's Sydney. NSW BDM: 3 children born: 1827 Mary (Ann), 1830 Susannah, 1835 Charles S. 1830: Ticket of Exemption from Government labour - to reside with his wife Susan (free). 1831: As Above - Torn up 29/8/1831, on his being permitted to clear out on the "Australian" on a special Certificate. Charles's wives were: 1814: Mary Nicholls 1820: Charlotte Bingham 1821: Sarah Kent 1824: Mary Cape 1825: Susannah Dockerall in NSW (Susannah died 1852) 1852: Elizabeth Hughes in NZ Charles Samuel supported his family in NZ by working as a farmer and cooper for the local whalers.




Had six wives over his lifetime. Emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Port Underwood in the second half of the 1830s.
