CHURCH, Elizabeth (ABGR 23313) Born c1788 as she gave her age as 23 on arrival in Australia, in 1811.
Elizabeth was sentenced to seven years transportation when she was tried in the City of Dublin, in January, 1807.
Her Certificate of Freedom number is 1583 and her Absolute Pardon number 10/1583. Both dates are unknown.
When the 1814 Muster took place Elizabeth was a Convict Off Stores, in Sydney, with two children, also Off Stores. (page 160, number 7129)
Elizabeth and John Barford (Bareford, Barefoot, Barfoot, and Bedford) (per Boyd 1806) married on July 2nd, 1811, in St John’s Church of England, Parramatta, by Samuel Marsden. (Historical BDM’s references V1811505-147A/1811 & V1811265 3A/1811)
Children from the marriage are Rose c1813 whose partner was John Wilcox, Elizabeth c1814, John c1816, Michael c1818, Anne c1822, Ellen c1823, Bridget c1826, William c1827 and George c1830 married Louisa S(T) oden. (source Patricia Bates & Jennifer Burrell)
In May 1820 Elizabeth, her husband John and their children went to Port Dalrymple.

Catherine was born C1788, she was previously married it seems as her name is listed as Elizabeth CHURCH/HEANY/BEDFORD/BAREFOOT/BARFOOT
17 Aug 1811: Married at St John’s C of E Paramatta, NSW to John BEDFORD aged 35, Catherine was 23 Witnesses: Benjamin Jacobs and Catherine Buckley. They had 9 children, the latter 5 born in VDL.
1811-20 - Arrived in Van Diemen’s Land from Sydney.
1820 and 1821 Musters - Wife of J. Barefoot, Port Dalrymple. Free.
1826: 9 Aug - Wife of John BARFOOT. Drunk and disorderly. Fined 5 shillings.
1826: 8 Nov - Drunk and disorderly. Fined 5 shillings.
1826: 9 Nov - Drunk and disorderly. To be placed in the stocks 2 hours and sent to the Factory at George Town for 1 month.
1826: 27 Nov - Drunk in the streets of Launceston. To be confined to the stocks 3 hours.
1827: 8 Mar - Repeatedly drunk and disorderly. To find sureties to keep the peace 3 months and sent to the Factory at George Town 1 month.
1827: 16 Nov - Drunk and disorderly. To be sent to the Factory 1 month.
1828: 25 Nov - Drunk and disorderly. 28 days in the Gaol as the House of Correction.
1829: 22 Oct - Assaulting and threatening to beat *Hannah Murphy. Charge dismissed.
1831: 19 Sep - Drunkenness. Fined 5 shillings.
1833: 11 Dec - Drunk. Fined 5 shillings.
183?: 6 Sep - Being drunk. Fined 5 shillings.
John remarried 21 May 1840, to Ann Hammond, he was 60 and a farmer, she was 48 and a widow, so presumably Elizabeth had died by then.
John died 31/7/1846 at Launceston from ‘Inflammation of the bowels’.
No date of death for Elizabeth found.
