1844, 31 May: William Coley was granted a Ticket of Leave. 1852, 21 September: He received his Free Certificate (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON34-1-3$init=CON34-1-3P441).

1831, 19 October: Convicted for stealing money from the person. He had a previous conviction for street robbery for which he served 12 months. 1832: On arrival in VDL, he was 23, single and a blacksmith. He was assigned to the Engineer's Department. 1832, 23 July: Gross insubordination aboard the KS Forbes during the voyage - that is, "on 4, 5 and 6 April conspiring to take the vessel and inducing others to do the same"; punishment - to be sent to the interior.
