24/7/1828 Worcester Journal Worcestershire, England: John Collins, aged 23, and Edward Collins, aged 18, colliers, charged with stealing four asses, the property of J. Jones, of Great Malvern, in the night of the 4th of June. Mr. Curwood conducted the prosecution. The donkies were traced to a lane at Crowle, where they were found in the possession of the two prisoners, who were immediately taken into custody, when they confessed the fact. Seven years' transportation.__The younger prisoner will be sent to the Penitentiary. Edward Collins was also onboard the Nithsdale. John Collins was 25 years old on arrival. John was literate, protestant, single, 5'6" tall, dark ruddy and freckled complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. Assigned to the AA Company. 25/8/1835: COF No Date: Permission to marry Mary Gerety (Margaret 1837) Mary was 26 and on bond - John was 33 and free. (Mary was born in Meath, Ire., a Laundress). 1838: Married at St. James, Sydney - Mary listed as Garrety.
