Marriage: 20 Mar 1853: James Connors (Ticket of Leave), aged 24yrs, bachelor to Ellen Gallagher (Pass Holder) aged 21yrs, spinster - at Catholic Church, district of Bothwell. Witnesses - James Dalton (husband of James' sister Bridget) & Crimmins (or Cummons). Ref. 37/1/12 no. 17.




James CONNORS was convicted at Kilkenny 29 June 1847 for stealing and killing a sheep. Not convicted before. Conduct good. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Hyderabad' arriving 26 Aug 1849. Aged 24yrs; labourer; 5'1"; fresh complexion; dark hair; Hazel eyes; Roman Catholic; ring on middle finger, left hand. Native Place - Kilkenny, Ireland. Brother - Patrick Sister - Bridget (Biddy) - transported to VDL per 'John Calvin' ship (ref. Indent record). He was granted a Ticket of Leave upon arrival which meant he could find his own work. 13 July 1854: Certificate of Freedom granted, at Bothwell, Tasmania.
