Jeremiah CORKERY was convicted at Cork 2 Jan 1849 for stealing two sheep. Gaol report: “never convicted before, character good”. 10 yr transportation sentence. Spike Island Prison report: “good”. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship “Hyderabad” arriving there 13 Dec 1850.
Aged 32 yrs; farm labourer; widower; Roman Catholic; 5’6” height; not literate.
Native place of birth: Co. Cork, Ireland.

31 May 1852 - Blair, at Launceston - out after hours. 4 mths hard labour at Prison Barracks, Launceston.

1858: Breach of Water Act, at Windmill Hill, Launceston. Fined to which he further petitioned the Council to remit.
