William Cowling was convicted at Oatlands, Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 04/10/1845 for burglary - enter a dwelling house and steal onion seed. 2yrs imprisonment with hard labour. William was a soldier in the 11th Regiment. Native Place: Ashdon, Essex, England. Parents both resided at Ashdon but now deceased. One brother living but whereabouts unknown. 5'7"; groom/soldier; 29yrs of age; dk complexion; black hair; Hazel eyes. Station Gang: Fingal and St. Mary's Pass. Station fixed by Col. Secretary. Discharged to his Regiment on 04/10/1847.
