James Cox was listed as 40 years old on arrival - he was illiterate, single, no children, 5'4" tall, dark brown hair, blue eyes, dark complexion, stout build, scar over right eye, one at corner of left eye. 10/12/1859: Married Elizabeth Jane Kerr (nee Campbell) - she was born 1836 and arrived 20/10/1859 per West Australian, at Toodyay. Children: 1865: Annie Eliza d 1899 1867: Samuel Thomas. James was a Farmer, tenant at "Hawthornden" Toodyay, employed 11 TOL ment 1857-1872. 14/7/1875 The Inquirer and Commercial News, Perth: Notice to all concerned. ANY debts which may be contracted by my wife, ELIZABETH COX, late of Toodyay, I will in no way be answerable for ; she having, without just cause, left her home on the 25th June, 1875. his JAMES X COX. mark Witness— J. M. Hubbard. Newcastle, July 3, 1875. 14/7/1878: James Cox died - Listed on the WA BDM and also on the Toodyay convict database - do not know where he died.
