She left the Cove of Cork, the 12th of March, and brings 112 female prisoners, having lost only one on the passage. A few passengers also came per this opportunity. Family connections for John (Croaker) are: CROAKER John (Croaker) was born about 1789. He married Susannah Kidder (Kemp) in 1811 in Kent. He was tried for embezzlement at Dover Kent on 18 10 1815, sentenced to 14years, held at Kent Town & Port Gaol Delivery & hulk RETRIBUTION at Sheerness River Medway Kent & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 10 1816 after a voyage of 5.5months on MARINER. He is recorded with his Absolute Pardon in 1825; however he had left the colony with his son John, returning to England on PERO. The ship PERO was wrecked off South America, John caught fever & died in April 1824 age35. [Some details taken from this Website] Susannah Kidder (Kemp) was born anout 1795. She arrived in NSW with her children following her husband on 5 10 1816 after a voyage of 5months on ELIZABETH. [Noted a Susannah (Kemp), wife of sailmaker & ships chandler, is recorded as dying on 10 2 1830 age35 at George St Sydney & buried at St James CofE Sydney] John (Croaker) & Susannah Kidder (Kemp) produced 5children: mostly boys 1.John Wilkinson (Croaker) was born in 1812 in Canterbury Kent & lived at Margate (& so, presumably did the rest of the family). He arrived in NSW with his mother on 5 10 1816 after a voyage of 5months on ELIZABETH. He left the colony with his father, returning to England on PERO, which was wrecked off South America early in 1824. 2.Mary Ann (Croaker) was born in 1814 in Kent. She arrived in NSW with her mother on 5 10 1816 after a voyage of 5months on ELIZABETH. She married William Richard (Tress) on 28 11 1832 at Presbyterian Sydney. He arrived in NSW free with his parents on 11 10 1816 after a voyage of 5.5months on MARINER. He moved to Bathurst in 1841 from Parramatta & Appin & lived at Maude Cottage & Keppell St, Queen Charlotte Vale. He became a farmer shopkeeper auctioneer estate agent for Sloman & Tress, Tress & Croaker at Howick St 1841-63. Died at Sea on way back to New south Wales after a sentence Mitigation: Star (London) - Friday 16 July 1824 p. 4 Text: In April last, of fever, on board the brig Pero, on his passage from New South Wales (whence he was returning with a free pardon under a mitigated sentence, accompanied by his son), Mr. John Croaker, a native of Canterbury, and formerly of Margate; after enduring the hardships of a shipwreck on the east of South America, leaving a widow and four children in New South Wales."
