Mary Ann CROOKS was convicted at the CCC, London on 21 Sept 1835 for stealing a handkerchief, at Whitechapel. Previous conviction. 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Arab' arriving 25 April 1836. Single woman; aged 28yrs; 4'11" height; needlewoman. Native place of birth: Sheffield, England. Work assignments in the Colony. Several records of misconduct and punishments, including time spent at the Female Factory.
