A native of Nottinghamshire in England, Charles Crowe was transported to Van Diemen’s Land for seven years for stealing six pounds in silver coins. He arrived in the young colony in April 1822 on the convict ship Richmond. Unfortunately, his time in Van Diemen’s Land was short-lived; he died in March 1826 after spending just under four years in the colony.
