Volume Number: V 1840 - Australia, Marriage Index, 1788-1950 Name; Catherine Cullen Registration Place Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Spouse; James Barlow Volume Number V A 1841 - Australasian Chronicle. Thu 29 Apr 1841. Page 2 CHARGE OF ROBBERY.-A man named Andrew White yesterday appeared at the police office to prefer a charge of robbery against James Barlow and his wife Catherine. White stated that on Monday, being in liquor, but yet perfectly sensible and able to take care of himself, he went to the house of the prisoners, in Kent.street, about three o'clock in the afternoon, and that he had no sooner reached the door than the woman seized him by the neck, while her husband thrust his hands into prosecutor's pockets, and took out a pound note and some silver. White offered no resistance, made no alarm, and said nothing about the matter till next morning. The bench thought the story so improbable that they at once dismissed the case and discharged both the prisoners. 1844 - The Sydney Record Sat 20 Jan 1844. Page 123. DOMESTIC RECORD. James Barlow, late of Parramatta, was charged with cutting and wounding George Ringrose, on the 26th October, with intent to murder, and Catherine Barlow was charged with aiding and abetting. The jury found the prisoners guilty, and they were sentenced to be transported for life. 1844 - Transported to V.D.L. Per Ship; Waterlilly Catherine Barlow per Ship; Surry, Offence; Aiding & abetting in an assault with intent to do some grievous bodily harm. Tried. Supreme Court Sydney - 15 January 1844.
