Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Gilbert Henderson' arriving 12 Nov 1845. Aged 26yrs; soldier/carpenter; 6'; Protestant; can read & write; fresh complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. Native Place - Manchester, England. Uncle - William Culshaw, at native place. 12mths Probation Period in Colony. Port Cygnet. 5 Sept 1848: Ticket of Leave granted. 1849: a Constable at Pontville. 14 Nov 1849: Certificate of Freedom 11 Nov 1850: Married Elizabeth LAWRENCE at Ross in the Campbell Town district, Tasmania. Catholic Church. 11 Dec 1853: Male child, Hugh Culshaw born to Hugh & Elizabeth. Registered in Hobart district. The child died 27 Feb 1854 (inflammation of lungs). Father, Hugh Culshaw,an overseer.
