James Cusack, and his brother John, were convicted at Limerick on 20/04/1847 for Larceny - pick pockets. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (on the 'Emily'),arriving 30/10/1844. Ship Surgeon's Report: very good James was a married man, aged 27yrs - wife Ann at native place. Son John, aged 6yrs, accompanied him on board to VDL. Placed in Queens Orphan School 02/11/1844 and discharged to his father 24/07/1849. (The record states that the child's father is John, but this would appear to be incorrect, it is James Cusack who had a son, not his brother John.) Mother: Mary Brothers: Patrick & John
