6/3/1841 Bucks Gazette Buckinghamshire, England: Samuel Dagley, alias John Brown, labourer, charged with having, on the 12th of January, at Bletchley stolen a bay pony, value 7/., the properly of T. Missenden. Samuel was 22 years old on arrival. He was born near Bicester to Philip and Sophia Dagley. Brother George was in the 15th Regiment. Samuel was single, could read and write, protestant, 5'9 1/2" tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on forehead, 2 scars on back of left hand, small scar under left eye. Occupation: Quarryman/labourer. 28/12/1847: TOL 31/1/1848: Permission to marry Mary Gibbons (Greenlaw) approved. 20/3/1848: Married at St Johns church, Launceston, Samuel was 28, TOL, Labourer and Mary was 33, Prisoner, Single. 27/11/1849: CP 19/2/1851: Departed Launceston to Melbourne, per 'Shamrock', free by servitude. 10/9/1864 Leader, Melbourne: SAMUEL DAGLEY is charged, on warrant, with deserting his wife at Little Eltham on the 16th February. He is an Oxfordshire man, a market gardener, aged 50, 6 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, dark whiskers and beard worn full and large and inclined to grey, broad shoulders, scar over one eyebrow, one little finger contracted ; wore old brown coot, white jumper underneath, and brown velvet plush hat. He is supposed to have gone to Yackandandah, accompanied by a woman named Louisa Boswell, aged 30, short stature, dark and freckled complexion; carries with her an infant three weeks old. Her mother, Elizabeth M'Lean, resides at Allen's Flat, Yackandandah.-2nd March, 1864. 2/12/1865 Leader, Melbourne: TO LET, the PROPERTY OF SAMUEL DAGLEY, situated in the township of Eltham, 14 miles from Melbourne, containing 8 1/2 acres, for the support of his deserted wife, Mary Dagley, the said Samuel Dagley having absconded since the 16th February, 1864. Could not find a death registration on the Vic BDM, however, Samuel must have died C1885 - 4/7/1885 Leader, Melbourne: The Registrar granted letters of administration to the estates of the following deceased persons: — Samuel Dagley, £150 ; Alexander Beatty, £283 ; Richard Lambrick, £25
