William DANCE was convicted at the CCC, London on 4 April 1842 for stealing bottles and wine, the property of the Railway. 7 yr transportation sentence. Hulk report: ironed, because he had written asking for money. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship “Gilmore” arriving there 20 Aug 1843. Ship surgeon’s report: “good”.
Married man, wife Mary at Collingwood, London. 3 children.
Aged 33 yrs; coachman & groom(perfect/qualified); 5’6 3/4” height; ruddy complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes; scars on face & leg; can read; Protestant.
Native place of birth: nr Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. (ref. convict record)

2 March 1847: Ticket of Leave granted
23 May 1850: Free Certificate issued.
N.B. There is another person named “William DANCE” but transported per the ‘Pestonee Bomangee’ 1845.
