Elizabeth DAVISON was convicted at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne 30 July 1834 for stealing a watch. Previous convictions & bad connections. Life Sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'New Grove' arriving 27 March 1835. Ship Surgeon's Report: "Very good and quiet". Widow, 1 child. Aged 43 yrs. Plain cook & housemaid. 5'1 3/4". Native place of birth: Stanhope, Durham, England. Placements of work service in the Colony. Several records of misconduct and being drunk. Sent to the Female House of Correction, Hobart. 15 March 1837: Application for permission to marry - to William SCOTT (free). Approved. 19 June 1837: Marriage. Elizabeth DAVIDSON, convict per 'New Grove', widow to William SCOTT, widower. St. David's Church, Hobart. (ref. 36/1/3 no. 3648). (note: surname is registered with a 'd' making it Davidson not Davison) 22 Sept 1843: Ticket of Leave granted. 30 Jan 1849: Conditional Pardon approved.
