On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Sydney Gazette, Sat 7 Jun 1817. -------------------------------------------------- Convicts who sailed on the 'Mary' direct from Ireland - 1819 & 1836 - are currently being listed, incomplete data to date.

1819: Daniel DEASHY 15, 4’11 ½”, fair ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, native place Cork (see NSW Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Bound Indentures 1818-1819).

1836, 17 Feb/24 Feb: Daniel Deashy, 32, per Mary 1, 7 years, free, granted permission to marry Catherine Connor, 20, per Caroline, 7 years, bond; at Sydney (see NSW Registers of Convicts' Applications to Marry, 1826-1851; Granted 1836). 1836: Marriage of Daniel DASEY and Catherine CONNOR registered with NSW BDM, #70/1836 V183670 90. These births, between 1849 and 1853, registered to parents Daniel and Catherine DACEY could be the couple's children. However, another Daniel and Catherine DACEY lived at Binnalong, near Yass. So, these children are to be confirmed as the offspring of "our" Daniel and Catherine: 1. DACEY MARGARET 1920/1849 V18491920 70 2. DACEY CORNELIUS 3696/1847 V18473696 64 3. DACEY DANIEL 1921/1853 V18531921 70. DEATH: Daniel DACEY #3072/1864; Father: DANIEL; Mother: CATHERINE; death registered at YOUNG. Catherine Dacey’s death in 1872 is also registered in the Young district: #7453/1872; Father: CHRISTIAN; Died: YOUNG.

1825, 9 April: Granted Certificate of Freedom #65/3548; native of Cork; aged 22, 5’6”; ruddy complexion, slightly pock-marked; dark brown hair and blue eyes. 1826, 23 March: Issued with third CoF granted #77/5049 “in lieu of No …/4656 the greater part of which is now returned”. Same physical description and other details. Notation at bottom: “Sent to Port Macquarie 24 August 1822 for the remainder of his sentence for robberies” (see NSW Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1814, 1827-1867; All Registers of Certificates of Freedom, 1 Dec 1823 - Apr 1827, Jun 1828 - Dec 1833).

1822, 19 September: On list of convicts transported to Port Macquarie per “Lady Nelson” – sent by the Bench at Sydney on 24 August 1822 to serve the rest of his original sentence there; labourer, per Mary (1), 7 years (see Colonial Secretary's Papers, 1788-1856; Copies of Letters Sent Outside The Colony, "Foreign", 1814-1856).
