Isabella 1840 27 Feb - 1840 03 Aug. Placed in the hospital from 21/5/1840 to 30/6/1840 suffering from various forms of Syphillis and Gonorhoea. “The patient has been several years on the town and is of abandomned and dissipated habits. The last time she was affected she spent three months in the Dublin Hospital and was cured, The eruption came out about 1 month ago and gradually increased and is now so bad that the prisoners have objected to her sleeping in the berth and reported the circumstances to me during inspection, She was treated with ointment and other remedies. Bowels constipated and treated with magnesium sulphate (epsom salts) The site of the pustules sees new skin growing. She was very grateful for the treatment and received wine and preserved meat for 10 days after leaving hospital.”
