Convict Notes

Matthew Dilworth was 24 years old on arrival in VDL. His occupation was a farm labourer/weaver and he was transported for "Administering poison with intent to murder". Matthew was single, could not read or write, had grey eyes, brown hair, 5'7 1/2" tall. Period of Labour: 2 years. Station of Gang: Norfolk Island. 9/9/1851L TOL 16/5/1854: COF. 7/11/1851: Applied to marry Julia Wilson (Mary Anne). 23/4/1852: Applied to marry Mary Carroll (Duke of Cornwall). 28/6/1852: Married Mary Carroll. They had 4 children and lived in the Longford area. Mary was born C1829 and died 18/3/1896 at Longford. I have Matthew's date of death as 11/7/1880, however, there seems to be some conjecture on the date. He was 73 years old.
