National Archives. ADM 101/57/31831-1832 Medical journal of the Norfolk, convict ship for 8 September 1831 to 23 February 1832 by William Clifford, surgeon and superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage to New South Wales with male convicts and guard. Folios 23-24: case no 35, John Doughan, aged 30, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, synocha; put on sick list 8 December 1831, died 18 December 1831. (Synocha was a continuous fever, often leading to typhoid)
