There appears to be some debate as to his date of death. The following is reported, but more research will be required to see if this is the Mathew Donovan who arrived on Prince Regent. Coroner's Inquest—On Tuesday afternoon a Coroner's Inquest was held at the Prince of Wales Hotel, on view of the body of a man named Mathew Donovan, which had been found floating the river Yarra Yarra, near the wooden bridge that morning. From the evidence it appeared that the deceased had been missing since the night of the 15th ult., when he was last seen making his way from town to his residence at Richmond in a state of intoxication, and as is supposed must have fallen into the river when in that condition. The jury returned a verdict of " found drowned."
