Barney's occupation was listed as a Seaman and Weaver. 21/4/1829: Aged 19, can read and write – Assigned to Alexander McLeod at Luskintyne on arrival. 12/6/1830: St Hilliers: Absent from his gang and robbing a hut – 3 years – sent to Moreton Bay. 22/10/1833: Returned to Sydney. 1837: Aged 31 – Assigned to L A Berry, Jerrys Plains. 1837: TOL Windsor 13/6/1838: TOL Passport – Patrick Plains 2/3/1840: TOL Passport – Patrick Plains 16/9/1840: TOL cancelled for cruel treatment to a horse and threatening to commit arson. 5/8/1841: Wellington: ABSCONDED, from Boree Vyrang District, Wellington, BARNEY DORNEN, ship Mellish; age, thirty-one years; native place, Galwayshire; trade, bullock driver ; height ,five feet one inch and upwards; complexion ruddy, pockpitted: hair, brown; eyes, blue. Remarks, BUD and anchor on right arm; anchor, BD, and MH on left; ring middle finger of left hand, and sear at top of fist. Any Person lodging the prisoner in gaol will receive the above reward by applying to F. O. Darvall,Wellington, or to J. B.
