The Tickets-of-Leave granted to the following Prisoners, have been cancelled for the reasons set against their respective names, viz.— Dowd John, Dunvegan Castle (2), sentenced to work six calendar months in an ironed gang . NSW Govt Gazette, 29 Nov 1837.

Patrick Caffry, John Dowd and Michael Money were indicted for a highway robbery of a gun on the 21st November, the goods of William Nixon, who being sworn stated, that he lives at  Clonmellan ; on the day laid in the indictment he was at the Petty Session, of  Crosakiel where he got his gun by order of the Magistrates from a person whom he had lent it; was returning home in the evening when he was met by six men, three of whom he now identifies as the prisoners  at the bar; he saw them abaut two months before that; believes he would know the other three men, but for the beating he received. Cross-examined Counsellor Murphy: Drank something on that day before dinner would drink before breakfast as well after ; but on that day did not drink anything before breakfast; was not quite sober ; was little disguised in liquor, hut not drunk was able to know a man, and what was about; the prisoners live within three miles of him ;  knew them some months before; did not charge Peter Mathews Henry Fox with taking the gun, but hears Fox wanted to liny borrow it from him in Crossakiel before he was attacked ; also saw him on the road about fifteen minutes before  the attack; did tell Fox that he might send him home the gun if he liked ; never desired man of the name of Corrigan to send home the gun. Guilty- Sentence of death recorded. Drogheda Journal, 3 Mar 1832.
